When did you get started in the rap game?
JDott Trife: I actually started writing and making music when I was about 16. I didn’t really take it serious and go hard with it until I was about 21. So as far as making music period , a little over 10 year’s. Taking it serious and making it my Life , About 8 years.
How did the LEP Bogus Boyz & “Paid” video collab happen?
JDott Trife: Man, those are the Homies right there. Well, the Chicago Music scene is really close knit. It’s not hard for us ( Artist’s ) to bump into each other , Almost everyone damn near know’s each other or knows of each other. I actually first met them around 2009 at one of their listening parties at this Clothing store called Succezz. From there I use to see them here and there at various event’s. The song ‘Paid” was originally on my 1st Album "The Trife Effect"
me and my Producer DJ O-Zone were thinking about shooting a Video to it and he came up with the idea of throwing L.E.P on there. I was with it. Especially because I respect what they do and stand for, They’re dope. I had a show with them out in Racine, Wisconsin. We chopped it up that night , a few days later got in contact with their people and everything flowed from there. We also agreed to do the Video also, They were with it and it was a wrap, We put out a Chicago classic. Shout’s to Count and Moonie , because it’s not that often you meet a lot of authentic people in the Music Biz, But those guy’s are real 100%. Their as real as real get’s.
Who are some of your big inspirations in the game?
JDott Trife: Well the Artist’s that inspired me were the one’s I grew up listening to. Tupac was definitely my favorite Artist, He had an energy and passion that was so real you can feel it. I don’t think there is a Artist yet that is as real and passionate as him. I also rock with Hov! Jay-Z is definitely in my top 5 , His music, Lyrics, Song’s, Hustle, Demeanor is Impeccable. Im a fan of Big Pun, Eminem, OutKast ,50 Cent, Rakim, LL Cool J, UGK , and NWA. Only artist’s I can say I really rock with now currently in the game would have to be Kendrick Lamar. He is killing it right now. I like his music.
What’s your dream collaboration?
JDott Trife : I would definitely want to make a classic , timeless record with Eminem and Jay-Z , with Dr. Dre on the beat.
Name your top 3 favorite sneaker brands?
JDott Trife: Jordan’s , Nike Air Max and Chuck Taylor’s . keep it classic.
If you could play Michael Jordan on 1-on-1, what sneakers would you want to play him in?
JDott Trife : The Jordan Metallic 5’s. Thats my favorite sneaker of all time! Their fly, comfortable, They go with damn near everything , and if you’re hooping in them they have a good balance. They also keep up well, they don’t get worn out fast. I always get 2 pair of them joints, one pair for the crib and one pair to be fly in. I would rock them playing against Mike.. He would whoop my ass in that game, But at least I’ll be jiggy .
What’s your next move in music?
JDott Trife: I’m actually in the studio now working on my next project which should be set to drop sometime early/ mid 2014, I will be dropping video’s for that project asap, I’m on a whole other level. I’m also working with DJ O-Zone on his project, I will be executive producing that. I will also be executive producing another Artist’s project. Aside from that, my latest Indie album ” F.Y.F - The Plug” is now available on iTunes. Get that!
